Our Pūhoro whānau are looking for 2 x Te Urunga Tū Kaihautū on full-time fixed term 12-month contracts to support our kaupapa in the Rotorua, Bay of Plenty region. Together, you will take lead on the day-to-day operation of this region with the support and guidance of a team that is passionate about seeing rangatahi Māori thrive in STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Mātauranga Māori).
Who are we?
The Pūhoro Charitable Trust is a kaupapa Māori organisation with a mission to improve Māori outcomes in STEM and related fields. We service 10 regions across Aotearoa and we work with 2000+ rangatahi Māori in high school and in tertiary.
The role:
The role of Te Urunga Tū Kaihautū is to work directly with rangatahi Māori in high school to support their development in STEM and enable them to achieve their aspirations.
You’ll report to our Mana Urunga Tū (Northern Regions) and you’ll join a highly collaborative team of Kaihautū spread across Aotearoa.

Responsibilities:
In this role the Te Urunga Tū Kaihautū will work with our partner schools in Rotorua and the Bay of Plenty region on the delivery of in-school workshops and regional events.
Qualifications:
You will be competent and comfortable working with rangatahi Māori and you’ll have a deep understanding of their unique needs and values. You will have knowledge in STEM that will enable you to support our rangatahi at an NCEA level.
You will also have strong relationship management skills, and the ability to work with a range of audiences including rangatahi, Kaiako, whānau, iwi, industry partners and external stakeholders.
Te reo Māori proficiency is desirable, but not essential.
