Pūhoro has partnered with global industrial technology company Trimble through the Trimble Foundation in a relationship that will see more rangatahi Māori gain access to opportunities in STEM, including learning and development experiences, networking, and career opportunities.
The Trimble Foundation’s mission is to contribute to building stronger and more equitable communities to drive a sustainable future, and the Foundation's values align strongly with Pūhoro’s commitment to growing a leading Māori STEM community guided by their unique Māori worldview.
“We are delighted to partner with the international powerhouse that is Trimble. It is important that our rangatahi are exposed to the opportunities that exist for Māori on both a local and global scale, and our relationship with Trimble will help enable us to achieve this,” said Kemp Reweti – Manahautū.
The new partnership will have a focus on engineering and will enable Pūhoro to provide additional internships, scholarships, targeted student support funding, networking, and excursions to Trimble offices, as well as Trimble-led wānanga sessions and workshops.
“Each of these touchpoints are critical opportunities for our rangatahi to solidify their career path in STEM. The more opportunities we are able to provide, the more rangatahi we can connect to meaningful STEM employment.”
“Work has begun to bring these opportunities to life and develop the relationship between Pūhoro and Trimble’s New Zealand offices, starting with Trimble’s Ōtautahi-based site. We are looking forward to delivering these opportunities alongside Trimble, and we are excited to see our rangatahi benefit from this partnership,” he said.
“Through this partnership, Trimble and Pūhoro are working together to promote career opportunities in the technology and innovation sector to rangatahi. By embracing common ground, Trimble is committed to empowering rangatahi to excel in their chosen fields as future leaders and innovators, developing the skills and confidence needed to tackle real-world challenges and drive cutting-edge innovation in Aotearoa and beyond. Together we aim to strengthen the engineering and technology ecosystem in our motu,” said Jason Hill – Vice President and Trimble New Zealand Leader.
At the forefront of the relationship is the unique worldview rangatahi Māori bring to the workforce. Together, Pūhoro and Trimble seek to provide an environment where both rangatahi and Te Ao Māori can be nurtured and thrive.
